What Does It Mean to Be a SAIFCA Advocate?

Advocates will sign the following pledge:

“As a SAIFCA Advocate, I support the mission to protect children from AI risks while preparing them to thrive in an AI-driven world. I recognise both the immediate challenges facing children and the importance of ensuring advanced AI systems align with human wellbeing. I commit to contributing to awareness of these issues and supporting SAIFCA’s mission within my professional sphere.”

And support SAIFCA's mission:

Our mission is to protect children from the risks posed by artificial intelligence, inspire a future generation equipped to ensure advanced AI systems align with human well-being, and contribute meaningfully to societal efforts addressing AI challenges.

While engagement is flexible, there is an informal expectation of meaningful involvement, such as:

✔️ Sharing expertise and insights

✔️ Amplifying awareness of AI safety issues affecting children

✔️ Contributing to discussions on responsible AI development

✔️ Supporting SAIFCA’s advocacy efforts in professional spaces

We also ask Advocates to subscribe to SAIFCA updates to stay informed and up to date:

Application Criteria & Selection Process

To ensure alignment with SAIFCA’s mission, applicants will be assessed based on the following:

Acceptance Criteria

  • Professional background in a relevant field OR demonstrated interest/expertise in AI safety or child protection
  • Public profile that aligns with SAIFCA’s mission
  • No conflicts of interest with SAIFCA’s goals (advocacy for similar organisations is welcome)
  • Professional online presence
  • Clear, articulate application responses

🚫 Incompatible Factors

  • Potential conflicts of interest (e.g., commercial interests that conflict with SAIFCA’s mission)
  • Unprofessional or inappropriate online presence
  • Vague or unclear responses that do not demonstrate a commitment to child safety in AI
  • Reputation risks that could impact SAIFCA’s credibility

Very Important Note: Non-Commercial Focus

SAIFCA Advocates is a non-commercial network focused purely on child safety and AI risk prevention. We do not accept applications primarily aimed at:

Promoting commercial products or services

Marketing AI tools or platforms

Business development opportunities

Consulting service promotion

However, if you run a business or sell a product that aligns with SAIFCA’s mission, you are still welcome to apply—as long as your advocacy remains focused on child safety in AI rather than commercial promotion. SAIFCA Advocates are recognised as individuals, not as representatives of a business, product, or service.

At this time, we do not endorse specific products or services, so advocates should avoid implying a connection between SAIFCA and any commercial offerings.

Future Opportunities

This is just the beginning! In addition to running additional application rounds for the SAIFCA Advocates network, we will open applications for an advisory board and other roles in due course.

📅 Applications for our first cohort are open until March 17th. 🔍 Successful applicants will be announced by the end of March.
