About Tara Steele
International Association for Safe and Ethical AI inaugural conference at the OECD headquarters in Paris, February 2025.

Recognised as one of the 2025 Leading Women in AI by ASU+GSV, Tara focuses on AI safety and child protection. She founded SAIFCA to ensure that children’s needs are not overlooked as AI capabilities grow – and to help build a future where technology is developed with wisdom, caution, and care.

Tara regularly speaks and writes about the risks AI poses to children, including appearances in UK Parliament and contributions to international coalitions and forums. She is a member of the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI (IASEAI) and attended its inaugural conference at the OECD headquarters in Paris in February 2025.

In her current role, Tara leads SAIFCA’s strategic vision, public outreach, and partnerships, working closely with a growing network of educators, researchers, and policymakers. She is also Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors at a UK primary school, where she leads on e-safety.

Tara holds a First-Class Law Degree and previously served as an Intelligence Officer in UK criminal law enforcement. Her background in intelligence and governance brings a unique perspective to the ethical and societal challenges posed by AI – particularly for children.

She has completed multiple certifications in AI governance, ethics, and safety, and is committed to helping society prepare for the profound shifts that advanced AI will bring.

“Protecting children today plays a vital role in shaping a safer AI future for everyone.”
